The secret to getting ahead is community (a healthy one!) because it empowers individuals to be the leaders they were meant to be. In fact, history testifies of its strength in upholding and encouraging individuals to grow and learn.
What happens in COMMUNITY?
Networking in Community
You make connections that are essential to getting ahead!
Networking can lead to you joining teams of people. You may even gain insight, contacts and fresh perspectives to help you get ahead. For instance, you hear about more new job offers or sign up for a leadership program that helps you develop your skills.
Accountability in Community
The secret of community is a support system that reminds you to stay on track with your goals.
Intervention is available when you struggle with behaviours or face challenges. In other words, it reminds you that you are responsible for yourself (an HQ embedded in Moorelands Kids)! To illustrate, you are reminded of how to stay organized, manage your time and engage in self-care so you don’t burn out!
Facing Adversity
Did you know that community based-programs improve the health of young people and families?
Effective intervention in adversity offers comfort in difficult situations. In the uncertain times of a worldwide pandemic, this has never been truer. The community provides a support system to help young people and families who face adversity. Consequently, they transition into the next phases of their lives more smoothly.
Believing in Yourself and Getting Ahead
Self-confidence is crucial to getting ahead in life.
The secret of community is that it creates a safe and comfortable space for you to express yourself. It furthers your confidence to step into roles, do tasks and believe that you can get ahead! A great example is the Positive Youth Development (PYD) model. This model uses mentoring and leadership programs to give youth the opportunity to cultivate their self-confidence.
By engaging you with leadership roles and self-confidence, you are able to see the best in yourself!
