John Offutt Race Across Ontario

Race Across Ontario

On September 11th, 2021, a team of experienced cyclists are aiming to complete an 800k Race Across Ontario in less than 24 hours, raising funds to send a cabin of kids to Moorelands Camp in memory of former Moorelands Kids’ board member and long-time supporter, John Offutt. In the process, they’re setting the cycling record for the fastest crossing of Ontario by 4 people.

In Memory of John

Aside from his boundless energy, deep sense of adventure and profound love of learning John was well known for his volunteerism and his philanthropy. He coached soccer at Mooredale for many years, was on the Board at Moorelands, was a camp counsellor and water-ski instructor at Camp Oochigeas, had recently joined the Board of the North Lake Joseph Association, hosted many fundraisers for charities, and donated generously to many others.

It is in the spirit of John that the Race Across Ontario team dedicates their event so that children will benefit from the gracious, adventurous and charitable legacy he left behind.

We’re so grateful to  Hannah, Andy, Paul and Paolina for taking on this fantastic fundraising challenge – what a wonderful way to remember an amazing man and support children in our community. Thank you!
