Moorelands’ camper, Letitia, shares her story:
“I first came to camp when I was 11 with my younger sister. Before attending, I had been getting bullied at school which made me very nervous about going to the camp full of other children… but mom still made me go – and thank goodness she did. After getting past the swim test and the first day jitters, I forgot about life outside of Moorelands Camp and began to absorb all of the positive energy in the air. I’m not kidding the happiness and positive vibes are in every person, place or thing
on that island.
“One of my favourite things about camp is when we go to the campfire at Hub Point and sing songs, watch skits, hear what’s new on the island while
sitting next to our cabin mates in front of the nice warm fire and, at the end of it all, finish off by singing ‘The Fire is Low’.
“Moorelands Camp has definitely taught me how to trust, make new friends and appreciate life and all of the beautiful little things in it. I have even taken the no D’s (no demeaning, diminishing, or disrespecting) policy and applied it to my everyday life. (https://glasshousefarms.org/)
