Alumni Reunion

Moorelands’ Hub – Feb 16, 2016 – Storybooks and Moorelands’ Alumni family…

Hey Moorelands!

We’ve been celebrating Family Day here in Ontario this week and getting super excited about reuniting with members of our Moorelands Alumni family at the Wilderness Camp Reunion on March 5th.  If you are a former Moorelands camper or counsellor and aged 19+, come out to the Dance Cave (above Lee’s Palace in Toronto) to catch up with your Moorelands Alumni friends. All entertainment will be provided by Alumni: Danny Baldassi has agreed to do a stand-up routine, Gonzo’s band Powderfinger will be headlining and Stewart Houchen is flying in all the way from Calgary!  Check out the event on Facebook, see who else is already in and let your friends know you are attending. Can’t wait to see you all!At BLAST Gateway this week, imaginations have been running wild and literature brought to life in Storybook week!  Working together in groups and practising team work skills, participants took part in a drama activity. Each group showed off their dramatic flair as they enacted their favourite stories and entertained their fellow participants. In a related cooking activity, BLAST kids made ‘Muffin Man’ muffins and worked on their sharing and basic math skills. Check out the fun in the two galleries.Over at BLAST Grenoble, the Team Challenge reached its thrilling conclusion! As you may remember, participants have been working in teams to compete in challenges and develop their team work skills. This week the teams:

  • Team Team
  • Team Everything is Awesome
  • Team Blank
  • Team Fantagians

competed in 4 different activities: Tower of Jenga , Ping Blow, The Travelling Marbles and Team shot (a basketball activity). Participants showed spectacular cooperation and teamwork skills to overcome the challenges but Team Blank took the entire competition. (https://restorehealthky.com/) Congratualtions Team Blank and all the participants over at BLAST Grenoble for your amazing teamwork skills!BLAST Thorncliffe have been developing their cooking skills with an activity that saw them make delicious blueberry and cream cheese dumplings. Yum!

Looks like fun, right? If you are looking for a job where you can plan and assist children aged 6-12 in fun activities like these… good news, Moorelands is hiring! Find out more about the Program Assistant role at BLAST.Have a great week!
