“I believe every child should get these experiences in their life, it would help them to grow to be a better person just like me. The activities we did there required a lot of leadership, support, courage, empowerment, and kindness.”
Jordan, Moorelands Kids’ camper, age 11
“I really enjoyed going to Moorelands Camp in summer 2019. I learned many new things and made new friends, also singing or shouting cheers. I loved the boat ride to camp because I met everyone in my cabin which leads to all of us being long-lasting friends.
“If you have never been away from your parents, this is a great way to come out of your comfort zone. If you do not like heights, the camp is a great way to get over fear since you are climbing and jumping off things. I had an amazing experience from the time I arrived ’til the end. I would like to thank all the staff and everyone who helped organize this year’s camp. Well done. Great job!!!!!!
“My favourite memory was when we got to choose our campout [in Project DIVE!]. It was a cool experience. I chose the canoe trip to Hardrock because I always wanted to canoe and it was just a great time. “I felt happy when all of us were just sitting eating our burgers and talking, or watching the scenery of the lake and sky.”
“During the trip, I also learned many new skills and things that I didn’t know from before. For example, I learned a new type of fire, learned how to play a game called werewolf, and I learned how to canoe for the first time which was very exciting. It wasn’t hard because of the kayaking experience I had already from camp. Later on the day, we all went swimming in the lake and then we ended the day with our Wednesday night campout wrap up.
“The new habits and qualities I learned at Moorelands (like be more respectful, helpful to others), helped me to change into a better leader. I believe I became more understanding and caring for others.
“Thank you, Moorelands for this great experience. I hope in the future I will give back as much as you gave me this summer. I believe every child should get these experiences in their life, it would help them to grow to be a better person just like me. The activities we did there required a lot of leadership, support, courage, empowerment, and kindness.”
