WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORK AT MOORELANDS CAMP?
Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat is Moorelands Camp. Each summer we serve over 600 economically disadvantaged children and youth from Toronto. Our staff are ready for the challenge of being a strong role model and mentor who empowers kids to positively develop their leadership skills in a fun and transformative environment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Moorelands Camp is just outside of Dorset, ON on Kawagama Lake. It is about a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto.
Camp runs for 6 sessions that each begin on a Monday and end on a Saturday. You will also need to attend orientation week(s) which vary in length and start date based on your position. Please see the job descriptions for more details.
Moorelands Camp offers a staff bus for a fee from Toronto for camp staff. Details about pick up/drop off sites and other information will be sent to you via Camp Canada.
Each cabin typically has 8 – 10 campers and 2 staff.
Moorelands Camp has a ratio of 1 staff for every 2 campers.
Each week you get 1.5 days off or 2 nights. You have the afternoon on Saturday to Monday morning off
We have onsite laundry facilities and provide laundry detergent free for staff to use.
You are allowed to bring your cell phone for use on your time off at camp. Cell phones cannot be seen or be on your person during any time you are working regardless if you are around campers or not.
We have a staff lounge that has wireless internet for staff to use. There is no wifi available outside of the staff lounge.
Yes! A full mailing address with instructions will be included in your staff manual.
Camp has a full tuck shop for staff and we deduct fees directly from your paycheque. You may want to bring some for days off but other than that you don’t need any!
