Volcano made at Thorncliffe
BLAST Thorncliffe Volcano

There were more crazy science experiments in our Budding Leaders After School Teams (BLAST) this week.  At Moorelands, we believe in providing positive and fun learning experiences for children and youth, which help strengthen their confidence, competence and character.  Through the science activity, Volcano Blast, BLAST participants at Thorncliffe Park were able to develop the character skills of responsibility and sharing, while learning about important natural science concepts. It was also a heck of a lot of fun!

Fun with Elephant Toothpaste!
Fun with Elephant Toothpaste!

Over at BLAST Gateway, the theme of Around the World led to fantastic science activity, the Elephant Toothpaste Experiment! Elephant toothpaste, is the result of a chemical reaction that creates a rapid expansion of foam.  Our participants loved watching the humongous amount of foam that was produced by the reaction – it looked like enough toothpaste for an elephant!

Meanwhile at BLAST Grenoble it was Bunny Week! In one activity, participants got to develop their cookery skills as they baked delicious carrot muffins. Unfortunately, the muffins were so delicious that they got gobbled up before we could get any photos (or bites!)…  The bunnies were sorry not to have tasted any. But, on the bright side, we think that’s a testament to our Moorelanders’ fantastic baking success!

For all you past Moorelanders, whether participants or staff, don’t forget to check out our new Alumni page and reconnect with Moorelands!  We’re always excited to hear about what our alum are doing now, so why not send us your story?

Check back on the HUB next week for more updates about what’s going on at Moorelands!

Have a great week,
