Have you been feeling lonely? A little bit down right now?
We spend so much time on our phones looking at people living ‘perfect’ lives online, it can be hard to find happiness in your own skin. The constant bombardment of our phones has impacted us more than you can imagine!
FOMO
As someone who’s grown up in a generation swamped by social media, I can tell you that one of the leading factors to loneliness for us is the fear of missing out (FOMO). Every time we open our social media accounts and scroll through everyone else’s seemingly amazing lives, it leaves us with a crater on our hearts. A part of us just feels missing… and it could just be the feeling of belonging.
One of the most vital parts of life is the community we surround ourselves with. Whether it’s our family, friends, peers, coworkers or extra-curricular activities, there’s something about being a part of a community that gives you a sense of belonging and happiness that it’s hard to do without.
JOIN A COMMUNITY
One cure to loneliness and feeling down is finding a community that is vibrant and passionate about the same things you are into.
- Make a list of things you are interested in.
This is the starting point. Keep going!
- Find groups in your community that align with your interests.
Make a list, and number the groups from your favourite to least favourite.
- Join the group.
This is hardest part of the process, but it’s totally worth it!
- Commit.
There’s nothing like dedication. Don’t give up. Stick with it and accomplish your goals.
IF YOU’RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT
Clap your hands? (and wash them too!!!)
… So you’ve clapped your hands, now what?
It’s not easy to get back to feeling happy but when you manage it, being happy is worth sharing. So think of someone that you think needs the same thing you once needed. Invite them into your community and get happy together!
