Giving Tuesday is coming up on November 29th and it’s a day all about GIVING! Many people will choose to donate to good causes and charities like Moorelands Kids. Others will give their time by volunteering.
At Moorelands, we celebrate generosity and doing good, and there are so many ways we can do this! Here are some creative ways that you can give back this Giving Tuesday:
1. Give back to the environment.
Think of all the beauty the earth gives us, like oceans, beaches, forests and flowers. We can give back by treating it with kindness and respect. How about a clean up project? Visit a nearby park and help gather any garbage or litter. Or you could try an energy hour — turn off all your lights and devices for one hour to conserve some energy.
2. Thank your leaders and role models.
Our leaders play a big role in helping us become confident and responsible. Consider writing a nice note or thank you letter for the important people in your life like parents, teachers, coaches, camp counselors or siblings.
3. Get creative with art, posters or sidewalk chalk.
You can use your creativity by making artwork like a poster, drawing or painting that spreads the Giving Tuesday message — to do good! Hang your artwork outside or make a mural of sidewalk chalk so others can see, too. There’s no better way to give back than by putting a smile on someone’s face!
4. Know someone who needs a hand? Ask how you can help out.
Maybe you have a sibling who needs homework help, or a parent with a list of things to do. Think about what you can do for them, and do it before they ask you to! This shows great initiative and responsibility, one of Moorelands Kids’ Habits & Qualities.
5. Spread the word!
Let people know about Giving Tuesday! Share what you’re doing with friends and family, or use fun hashtags on social media like #GivingTuesdayCA to encourage others to be generous and give back, too.
And remember, no matter who you are or how old you are, you can do good. We can get creative and give back in so many ways, not just on Giving Tuesday, but every day.
