Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2025: Volunteers Make Waves

From April 27 to May 3, 2025, Canadians are coming together to celebrate National Volunteer Week (NVW) under the theme “Volunteers Make Waves”. This theme highlights the profound impact of volunteer efforts across the country.

Communities across Canada organize events to honour volunteers’ contributions. Like waves in the water, each act of kindness and service creates ripples. These ripples contribute to a stronger, more compassionate society.

Together we create ripples of change. And through the power of our amplified impact, Volunteers Make Waves. – National Volunteer Week, 2025

Volunteering benefits not only the community but also the volunteers themselves. Engaging in volunteer work can lead to increased self-confidence, enhanced communication skills, and improved mental and physical health. For instance, studies have shown that volunteers often experience greater life satisfaction. They also feel a stronger sense of belonging. (National Volunteer Week, 2025)

As much value as we impart to the kids, I think we impart a lot of value to ourselves if you’re willing to be there and take that learning experience.

Volunteers play a vital role at Moorelands Kids. Their time, skills, and dedication help strengthen the quality and reach of our programs—creating consistent, supportive environments where children and youth can thrive.

In 2024, our volunteer team made a meaningful impact:

These contributions go beyond hours—they reflect a shared commitment to empowering children and youth to develop confidence, leadership, and resilience.

Volunteering at Moorelands is more than a seasonal commitment—it’s a pathway to long-term community impact. Volunteers often return year after year, growing alongside the programs they support.

“Moorelands is so special and I make sure to tell anyone I can about it. They incorporate so much love and care into the programs – evident at the Holiday Sharing event where the families were so excited to see the staff and candid in their conversations, it was clear that the relationships built and fostered at Moorelands are cherished and impactful.” – Holiday Sharing Volunteer

This kind of sustained engagement is what drives the success of Moorelands’ programs. Volunteers are integral to Moorelands as together we create environments where children and youth can experience growth in their development as young leaders.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week 2025, we recognize the invaluable contributions of every individual who gives their time and energy to Moorelands Kids. Whether you are a returning volunteer or considering getting involved for the first time, your role is integral to our mission and has a lasting impact.

Volunteers at Moorelands Kids make waves—not just during National Volunteer Week, but every day they choose to invest in youth potential. Your consistent engagement helps us create meaningful experiences and outcomes for the young people we serve.

Thank you for being a part of that momentum. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more connected community.
