Role Outline
Reporting to the Moorelands City Vital Youth Site Coordinator, the City VITAL Youth Program Leader assist the City VITAL Youth Site Coordinator in implementing the hybrid Moorelands City VITAL Youth program. Participating in both in-person meet up days and online calls, they assist in implementing the advanced leadership lessons and activities for two groups of High School aged youth weekly.
***NOTE: These programs occur during evenings and weekends
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Moorelands City VITAL Youth Site Coordinator to implement fun, educational and skill developing advanced leadership activities in both an online and in-person environment
- Participate and assist in leading workshops, volunteer opportunities, field trips and leadership retreats
- Help supervise participants and implement the necessary behaviour management strategies
- Create and maintain positive relationships with all necessary stakeholders such as parents
- Complete and submit paperwork and reporting
- Embody and implement Moorelands Kids’ staff code of conduct, goals and any necessary policies
- Participate in one Dolphin Bingo volunteer day once per semester of their choosing dependent on Moorelands’ availability and scheduling
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Standard First Aid (can be obtained after hiring, and before start date)
- Principles of Healthy Child Development High 5 Certified (can be obtained after hiring, and before start date)
- Must have the desire and ability to work with children in an online setting
- Proven leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Be energetic, enthusiastic, patient and flexible
- Able to work in team and individual settings
Additional Qualifications
Please note that the following qualifications are NOT REQUIRED but will be considered an asset to your application:
- Experience working directly with children aged 14-17 years
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience working in an online program setting for children and youth
- Crisis Prevention Institute Verbal De-escalation training or similar
