Role Outline
Reporting to the Director of Programs & Curriculum and the City Programs Coordinator, the City VITAL Youth Site Coordinator leads the implementation of the hybrid Moorelands City VITAL Youth program. Participating and, where appropriate, planning, both in-person meet up days and online calls, they assist in implementing the advanced leadership lessons and activities for two groups of High School aged youth weekly.
***NOTE: These programs occur during evenings and weekends
Job Responsibilities
- Organize implement fun, educational and skill developing advanced leadership activities in both an online and in-person environment
- Lead workshops, volunteer opportunities, field trips and leadership retreats, planning activities when appropriate
- Supervise participants and implement the necessary behaviour management strategies
- Supervise Moorelands City VITAL Youth Program Leaders and offer constructive feedback, focusing on their growth
- Create and maintain positive relationships with all necessary stakeholders such as parents
- Complete and submit paperwork and reporting
- Embody and implement Moorelands Kids’ staff code of conduct, goals and any necessary policies
- Pick up and drop off supplies as needed at the Moorelands Kids office located on Consumers Road
- Participate in one Dolphin Bingo volunteer day once per semester of their choosing dependent on Moorelands’ availability and scheduling
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Standard First Aid (can be obtained after hiring, and before start date)
- Principles of Healthy Child Development High 5 Certified (can be obtained after hiring, and before start date)
- 2+ years’ experience working directly with children aged 14-17 years
- Must have the desire and ability to work with children in an online setting
- Proven leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Be energetic, enthusiastic, patient and flexible
- Able to work in team and individual settings
Additional Qualifications
Please note that the following qualifications are NOT REQUIRED but will be considered an asset to your application:
- Experience leading and coordinating programming
- Experience supervising other staff
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience working in an online program setting for children and youth
- Crisis Prevention Institute Verbal De-escalation training or similar
