At Moorelands Camp, Your Child Is In Good Hands!

Going to summer camp, especially for the first time, can be an exciting adventure for kids. But for parents, it’s normal to worry. Will they make friends? Will they be safe? Will they have fun?

For many parents, camp is the first time their child will spend an extended period of time away from home. While your camper is busy packing their swimsuit and counting down the days to that first boat ride to Moorelands Camp, you might be feeling some anxiety—and that’s okay! It’s completely normal to feel nervous while your child is away at camp.

At Moorelands, you can trust that your child is in good hands.

Moorelands Camp is a safe and caring environment. Our camp and programming are intentionally designed to support your child’s growth, safety and happiness. Rooted in Positive Youth Development, Moorelands Kids Habits & Qualities are the foundation for everything we do at camp, and our staff practise what they teach.

Our staff are pros. The team is trained in First Aid, Positive Youth Development and proper safety procedures, and have each submitted a clear Criminal Reference Check. All staff are involved in an intensive pre-camp training program to ensure they are ready to provide your child with a safe and meaningful learning experience. Plus, they know how to have fun!

We’ll keep you in the loop. We understand that communication is key, especially when you’re miles away. That’s why we work hard to keep parents informed and reassured. While campers are enjoying screen-free time in nature, our staff are available to provide updates if needed. And if there is ever an emergency or concern, you will be contacted immediately. The health and safety of our campers is our top priority.

  1. Remember why you chose Moorelands:
When you’re feeling nervous, think of all the amazing benefits your child will receive from their time at Moorelands Camp—confidence, responsibility, leadership skills and a whole lot of new adventures as they take time away from their digital devices and explore nature.
  2. Stay busy and take care of yourself:
This is a great time to do something for yourself! Pick up a project you’ve put on hold, start a new hobby, or read a book. Keeping your mind engaged can help ease the worry.
  3. Talk to other parents:
You’re likely not the only one feeling this way. If you know other camper parents, reach out! You can be a source of support for each other.
  4. Trust the process:
Growth happens when you step outside of your comfort zone, and at Moorelands, we’re all about helping your child grow! Camp is one of the few places where kids can truly practise independence in a safe and supportive environment.
  5. Look forward to their stories:
Your child will come home from camp with new skills, friends and a ton of great memories—and they’ll want to tell you all about it. You can look forward to plenty of campfire songs and stories that they will bring home with them!

If you have any questions about camp, contact us. We’re happy to keep you informed and help set your mind at ease.
