2025 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

MOORELANDS CAMP

Located on Kawagama Lake, near Dorset, Ontario, Moorelands Camp is an overnight camp for kids from across Ontario. All spots at Moorelands Camp qualify for financial assistance based on net income and family size. For one week, we lead fun outdoor activities rooted in positive youth development that immerse kids in nature and show them safe, exciting ways to enjoy the great Canadian outdoors. It’s a week away from the city in a positive, caring and safe environment focusing on leadership development, growing confidence and fun friendships.

OUR CAMP STORY

Lucy and Salo, both 12, arrived at Moorelands Camp for the first time this summer. Nervous at the start, they quickly discovered a welcoming community that felt like home. To their surprise, both were invited to return for  Project DIVE,  a program which is offered to participants who are ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. By going deeper into the Moorelands’ leadership skills taught at camp, Lucy and Salo were proud of being recognized for their personal potential to succeed as young leaders.

Separated into different cabins, the sisters grew independently, making their own friends and trying new things. “It wasn’t hard,” they explain, “because everyone was so welcoming.” They discovered new experiences, such as skateboarding, rock climbing and photography. “At first I was scared of skateboarding, but then I learned so much in just two days,” says Lucy.

CITY PROGRAMS

Moorelands Kids City programs help youth develop healthy habits and tools for success at home, at school and in their communities.

City Clubs and City VITAL Youth provide middle and high school students with a safe, structured environment to build confidence, develop leadership and gain life-skills. Rooted in Positive Youth Development, these programs help young people grow self-worth, develop character and form meaningful relationships with peers and mentors.

City Clubs serves students in Grades 6 to 8, offering leadership experiences that encourage teamwork, communication and personal growth. City VITAL Youth, a hybrid program for high school students, builds on these foundations through advanced leadership development to empower youth to put their skills into action.

In the 2024–2025 school year, Moorelands served 148 youth through our Moorelands City programs. We also expanded from 2 semesters to 3 semesters in 2025, which increased the number of spaces available to serve more kids in City Clubs.

GABBY’S STORY AT CITY CLUBS

“I’ve made a lot of new friends at City Clubs, and met so many new people. It’s been really fun. We’re all different ages, but it doesn’t bother me because the teamwork, the friendship, the friendliness—it’s all there. Moorelands is a safe space for me.

At school, we’re getting an education. But at Moorelands, we’re learning respect. We’re learning “No D’s,” which means not diminishing ourselves or others. We’re learning how to be better people…

Moorelands has really changed me as a person. It impacted me in a really positive way, and it taught me to be kinder and more respectful.”

HOLIDAY SHARING

Moorelands Kids’ Holiday Sharing program spreads joy during the holiday season by providing much-needed relief to parents and putting smiles on the faces of children and teens.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, 157 families with 378 children received vital support through gifts and grocery funds via the Adopt-a-Family program, just in time for the holidays! By adopting a family, a community of donors made the 2025 holiday season brighter and more joyful for those in need.

We sincerely thank those who chose to support this program for helping us share hope and spread kindness. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect families to a community that cares!
