Dear Friends,

I want to thank you for your support and dedication to our mission. Your unwavering commitment to Moorelands has a profound impact on the children and youth we serve, helping them unlock their potential to succeed at home and within their communities.

As we reflect on the impact over the past year, it’s inspiring to see the real difference Moorelands makes in the lives of those we serve. One such example is Vinyl’s journey, which showcases the lasting effects of Moorelands Camp. Meet Vinyl, a camper turned cabin leader who has been attending Moorelands Camp for the last seven years. This past fall, we sat down with Vinyl and his mother, Latonia, to capture his story.

“In my first year as a staff member, I was tasked with leading an archery program. At first, I was confident and excited to do it. But on the first day, I didn’t know if I did as well as I thought I was going to. Throughout the week, I talked to other Moorelands staff about how I was feeling and received advice from them. I’ve been able to look back on those conversations and remember that I can do whatever I set my mind to, and I now have the courage to leave my comfort zone and lead a group, using the skills I’ve learned at Moorelands in my community.”

– Vinyl, Camper Alumni, Staff Alumni, City Youth Participant

“When he started going to camp it was for his enjoyment, growth and networking, Moorelands built a bridge for him to reach new levels. He grew as a person and the skills he learned will lead him far beyond his time at Moorelands. He’s taking interest in leadership and is very enthusiastic about being a leader in school programs and councils and that’s huge. That is very impactful.”

– Latonia, Vinyl’s Mother

We could not have had this impact on Vinyl’s life, and the lives of so many more young people, without your support. Thank you for supporting Moorelands Kids, making stories like these happen year after year. Looking ahead to this year, we are excited to share some great news! Moorelands Kids will be expanding our City Clubs program for middle school youth across the Greater Toronto Area. Our goal is to reach more kids in additional low-income communities with our year-round experiential leadership curriculum.

This summer, Moorelands will also be expanding its horizons, as it opens up new opportunities to diversify the use of our camp property, creating more revenue to support our core camp program in support of vulnerable children and at-risk youth. Moorelands-Kawagama Adventures will provide community experiences and fun activities utilizing our facilities for events such as family and friend gatherings, birthday parties, group rentals, private bookings and much more. Check out our website for more details. In 2025, we are welcoming cottagers and the local community to book their children into Moorelands-Kawagama Day Camp. Again, this is another opportunity to raise more funds to augment our primary focus of serving marginalized kids over the summer months.

Exciting things are happening! We invite you to partner with us to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth in need. Stay connected with us by following our journey on social media to see firsthand the difference your generosity makes. Together, we can create brighter futures and empower the next generation.

Warmest greetings,

Lynda Tilley
Executive Director
