As we step into the new year, I want to express my thanks to you for your support and dedication to our mission. Your commitment to Moorelands continues to make an immeasurable impact in the lives of the children and youth we serve, as together we help them realize their potential to succeed, at home, at school and in their communities.
Last year, thanks to the support of our Moorelands community, we were able to provide children and youth with an unforgettable summer filled with opportunities that would otherwise have been out of their reach. Kids got to escape the city and connect with nature in a safe and positive environment, where they forged friendships, learned leadership skills and created lifelong memories. Back in the city, children and youth were further nurtured in our after-school programs, with fun approaches to learning while strengthening their emotional and social well-being.
We truly have such generous friends and supporters within the Moorelands community. We were reminded of the power of kindness in action as our community came together to raise significant funds for our annual Giving Tuesday campaign. Then, in the holiday season, holiday magic was created for children, youth and their families through our Holiday Sharing program. This was a success because of committed donors and volunteers. Thank you!
According to the Toronto Vital Signs report released in November 2023, 33% of Toronto residents reported income insufficiency last year, and food banks saw a 295% surge in usage. Today more than ever families are struggling with the rising cost of living, and this is even more prevalent for the families we serve. Therefore, as we embark on a new year filled with possibilities for growth in serving more children and youth, Moorelands Kids is committed to remain steadfast in providing families with financially accessible leadership, and learning programs in the City and at Camp.
On behalf of the Moorelands’ team, thank you for making 2023 a success and enabling us to continue our programs, fulfilling our mission and moving forward.
Warmest regards,
Lynda Tilley
Executive Director
