About Us

Who we are: Originally founded in 1912 as the DCA, Moorelands is a children’s charity serving Toronto’s children and youth from low-income communities. As a charity, our programs are entirely donation driven.

What we do: At Moorelands we are intentional. Our mission is to serve children and youth affected by poverty; we intend that children will gain skills, experience personal growth, develop confidence and make friends because they have been to Moorelands

Our programs are designed to bridge the opportunity gap for kids-in-need. We provide opportunities for them to develop and practise critical thinking and decision making; emotional intelligence; and interpersonal skills, including communication, conflict resolution, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, influencing skills and teamwork.

Our programs promote: 1) physical activity; 2) life skills development; 3) character development; 4) cultural competence; 5) tolerance and appreciation for diversity; 6) connections with peers, role models and community.
