About Us

Helping Kids for over 100 years

Moorelands Kids is an innovative children’s charity empowering kids from low-income, Toronto neighbourhoods, to transform their lives.  Since 1912 we’ve helped 130,700 kids.

Trusted and Accountable

Every child has the right to succeed in life, regardless of their economic background. Moorelands Kids has been making success happen since 1912.

Creating Engaged Citizens

Building on individual strengths within every child, Moorelands kids creates the city builders of the future.

One in four kids in Toronto is living in poverty.

Children and youth affected by poverty face barriers that other kids don’t.

We believe that every child has the right to succeed, regardless of their life circumstance. The Moorelands Kids’ team, and our transformative leadership programs, empower children and youth to overcome the barriers to success.

What makes Moorelands Kids unique?

Our Habits & Qualities programs offer year-round opportunities for kids to learn, practice and benefit from positive life and leadership skills. We set the stage for children as young as six to become leaders – first of themselves and then in their community.

Our Programs

Our programs, rooted in positive youth development, are designed to provide opportunities for kids to develop leadership skills and qualities and practise them in a safe space.  Through our Habits and Qualities, kids develop and practise critical thinking and decision making; emotional intelligence; communication; conflict resolution; problem-solving; strategic thinking; influencing skills and teamwork.

Our programs promote1) physical literacy; 2) life skills development; 3) character development; 4) cultural competence; 5) tolerance and appreciation for diversity; 6) connections with peers, role models and community.

Kids leave our programs with the leadership skills they need to succeed and the ability to build leadership in others.
