Our Moorelands Kids programs — now online!
Moorelands Kids is currently offering our after-school programs virtually, so kids can take part and stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health and safety of our kids and staff is paramount. After discussions with our school partners and reaching out to parents to learn about their needs, we are keeping programs online until we can safely be in schools.
With the majority of extra-curricular programming unable to run in person, the Moorelands Kids’ team is here to support our community with fun virtual programs that are designed to help kids continue on their leadership journey and connect with caring staff mentors and peers.
Our programs may look a little different but still offer that great Moorelands Kids experience. Take a look!
Keeping Kids Resilient
Resilience is the ability to bounce back after difficult life events. COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on kids. It’s caused them to stay home from school, away from friends and learning. Throughout the pandemic, families facing financial challenges have been more likely to be affected by the negative impacts of COVID-19. School closures, control measures, inaccessibility of traditional avenues of support, increased food insecurity, loss of recreational opportunities and reduction of family income all affect the physical and mental health of children; their learning and educational experiences; and their childhood development – what we call the COVID-slide.
The goal of our programs is to help kids regain this lost ground – all our programs help kids develop the building blocks of resiliency that kids need to bounce back. Our virtual programs, help kids build confidence, develop skills, grow in character and maintain the social connections that are so important to positive youth development.
