Family Programs

Supporting families-in-need and connecting them to community.

Moorelands Kids’ family programs, Baby Bundles and Christmas Sharing, are designed to build and deepen connections with families-in-need.

Through our family programs, we aim to keep the connections strong between vulnerable children and the Moorelands Kids’ community.

Our family programs support babies, children and youth across Toronto. Both programs are supported by gift-in-kind donations of supplies from generous donors.

Please note, our Christmas Sharing “adopt-a-family” program only serves camper families registered in the current year.

Christmas Sharing

Serving our summer camp and after-school program families

Christmas Sharing brings Christmas to families that otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to have a traditional Christmas experience. This family program requires one participant already be enrolled in our summer camp or after-school programs. Over 800 children-in-need are adopted and get to celebrate the holidays, thanks to gifts and grocery cards donated by thoughtful and caring individuals, families and groups.

Baby Bundles

We strive to help 250 moms & babies  annually

The only one of its kind in Toronto, Baby Bundles supports families-in-need with new basic baby supplies, a blanket and sleepers. Countless volunteers lovingly knit and crochet the baby sweaters, hats and blankets that are the foundation of our Baby Bundles program. Diapers, toiletries, receiving blankets, sleepers and towels are donated and added by our dedicated volunteers and distributed to new mothers in need. We provide one bundle per baby.

I came from a low-income household where we had our own share of family problems. At Moorelands, I was able to forget about everything that was going on at home. I felt secure, and that security allowed me to let go of everything going on at home and just have fun.

An Update from Lynda on COVID-19

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and public health advice to stay at home, Moorelands Kids’ office staff are working remotely and our office will be virtual until June 8th. Staff members are available by email or phone. Please visit our contact page to get in touch via email or our staff directory for a list of phone numbers.

On Tuesday, May 19th, the Government of Ontario announced that overnight camps must remain closed throughout the summer. While we are so sad that Moorelands Camp will not be able to run as usual this year, this news was not unexpected and we understand this decision: the safety of our campers and staff is always our first priority. We are refunding all camp deposits/fees already paid. Details have been emailed to registered camper families.

But we do have some good news! In anticipation of this announcement, we had already made extensive plans for a fun virtual camp experience and we’ll be Sending Camp to Kids this summer! More details coming soon including how to apply starting May 25th!

We commit to maintaining our beautiful camp property. We will continue to do everything we need to do to make sure that we can be at camp next year and for many more years to come! That’s why we need your support now more than ever. If you would like to make a donation, please click here or call: 416-466-9987 ext. 309.
