Kids Activities at BLAST
Moorelands’ BLAST after-school program provides a wide range of activities for the kids to engage in. Activities include arts and crafts, homework help, literacy, cooking, science, sports, drama, physical literacy, cultural activities and field trips. There is a minimum of 50 minutes of physical activity that occurs every day.
GAMES, GAMES, GAMES
At our programs we have games that build Confidence, Character, Competence and Connections. All activities provide opportunities to develop and learn skills. Take a look at some favorites:
COOKING & BAKING!
We plan fun cooking activities and work in groups to prepare, measure, mix and cook the food! One of the skills cooking activities help develop is mathematics: by measuring the ingredients, the participants become familiar with the different units of measurement and have a concrete example of how much each unit can hold. The participants also learn about knife safety, making healthy choices and about cleanliness while handling food. Take a look at what we’ve made in the past!
FIELD TRIP FUN
We’re lucky to be located in Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park because there’s so much to do! From Paradise Playground to the splash pad to Bowlerama, there’s always a great trip in store….always free of cost!
