Moorelands City Kids is back! Our City programs are offered in-person again this year.
Moorelands City Kids is a free, fun and educational after-school program for kids at Thorncliffe Park PS, Gateway PS and Grenoble PS.
Every day, our Moorelands City Kids after-school programs provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment where children, grades 1 to 5, can develop their life skills, leadership skills, confidence and sense of community.

Developing Leaders Through FUN Activities!
At Moorelands City Kids, children learn and practice new skills and character qualities while engaged in play.
Activities include arts and crafts, homework help, literacy, cooking, science, sports, drama, physical literacy, cultural activities and field trips. There is a minimum of 50 minutes of physical activity that occurs every day.
Our Moorelands City Kids after-school programs operate Monday to Friday, after school until 5:45 p.m. Registration is required. Spaces are limited to students who attend the respective schools.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! The leaders all work together to prepare a healthy snack for all of the participants. We are always mindful of allergies and dietary restrictions and all snacks are Halal.
An example of snack at program may be pita bread with hummus and carrot sticks or a half a bagel with cream cheese and strawberries. There will always be a fruit or vegetable served with snack and water is the beverage.
All of our programs have similar routines. Each school has different dismissal times so the order and timing of the activities vary.
3:15 – 3:30 | Participants arrive from their classrooms to program, wash their hands and have their snack |
3:30 – 4:10 | Main Activity (arts & crafts, science activities, sports, cooperative games, cooking, baking etc) |
4:10 – 5:15 | Gym time /Outdoor Physical Activities (at least 50 mintues per day) |
5:15 – 5:45 | Homework help/educational activity and pick up by parents |
5:45 | Program ends for the day |
Field trips will not cost you any more money. Because of time constraints, the trips are limited to the Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park area. The trips organized are very fun and safe. Some trips that participants have enjoyed in the past are: Playground Paradise, the park, the library, and visits to other programs.
Moorelands Kids offers LED (Lead Excel Demonstrate) for Grades 6 – 8 at Valley Park Middle School, Humber Summit Middle School and Gulf Stream PS. We also offer VITAL (Volunteers in Training as Leaders) an after-school program for students who attend Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute.
The Moorelands City Kids after-school program is free to participate.
Yes! We extensively train our leaders and volunteers on all of the information that they’ll need to run the program efficiently. All Program staff are trained in, First Aid & CPR, High Five Principles of Child Development, Positive Youth Development, safety and have submitted a clear Criminal Reference Check. Leaders also have their Food Handling Certificate which trains them on proper knowledge on how to handle and store food in a safe and sanitary manner.
