“Holiday Sharing was the reason I got Christmas presents when I was a kid. My parents couldn’t afford a lot of gifts for us, and some years those were the only gifts we got. I can’t imagine how much of a relief it was to my parents to have that support.”

Gearing Up for Giving Tuesday – December 3rd!
For Moorelands Kids, Giving Tuesday is a significant opportunity to rally community support as together we help kids realize their potential to succeed. Each year, this campaign invests in creating positive pathways for children and youth to strengthen their emotional and social well-being.
This year, we have once again partnered with our long-time supporters, the Ward Family Foundation, who will match donations up to $40,000 to help us meet our fundraising goal of $125,000. By donating before December 3rd, you can double your impact and make a difference in the lives of our kids. We thank you for your support and generosity, and we look forward to another successful Giving Tuesday!

MOORELANDS KIDS EARNS A
TOP 100 CHARITY RATING FOR THE 5TH YEAR IN A ROW!
We are proud to announce that for the fifth consecutive year, Moorelands Kids has been recognized by Charity Intelligence Canada as one of the Top 100 charities in Canada, receiving a prestigious 5-Star A Rating. This recognition underscores our commitment to being a leading experiential learning charity, dedicated to creating positive leadership and social pathways for children and youth.
Our success is made possible through the unwavering support of our staff, volunteers, board members, donors, partners, and supporters. Together, we enable children facing economic barriers to access transformative experiences that foster their growth and development.
A significant aspect of our success is the generous legacy gifts we receive. These contributions ensure a lasting legacy of kindness and support for the children we serve. One particularly inspiring story comes from Gerard Sheehan, a Chartered Accountant, who shared his experience of connecting a 92-year-old friend with Moorelands Kids.
“In 2022, I was approached by a dear friend to research a charity that assists children living in poverty by providing opportunities for kids to go to summer camp—an experience he had never been able to enjoy himself,” Gerry explained. “My friend wished to ensure that his remaining assets would support a worthy charity, enabling his legacy to help disadvantaged children attend camp. Through my research, I discovered Charity Intelligence, which evaluates charities based on fiscal stewardship and transparency. This led me to Moorelands Kids, a well-established and reputable organization that perfectly aligned with my friend’s wishes.”
Recognizing the potential impact of his contributions, Gerry conducted a thorough analysis of Moorelands Kids and was impressed by what he found. He arranged for his friend to meet Lynda and Colette at the Moorelands office, where his friend felt an immediate connection to the staff and the mission of Moorelands Kids. As a result of their discussions, he decided to leave a legacy of over $300,000 for a capital project to be built in his memory at Moorelands Camp.
“I am thrilled to have played a role in aligning my friend’s wishes with such a worthy charity,” Gerry shared. “I am also grateful for the resources provided by Charity Intelligence in my research. As an accountant, I highly recommend Charity Intelligence for anyone considering charitable giving, and I can genuinely attest to the integrity of Moorelands Kids in carrying forward their impactful work.”
This powerful legacy illustrates how planned giving can transform lives and empower future generations. Every legacy gift not only honours the donor’s intent but also provides critical resources for Moorelands programs, enabling children and youth to overcome socio-economic barriers to success.
As we celebrate this recognition, we invite others to consider making a lasting impact through legacy giving. Together, we are building a brighter future for the children, youth, and families we serve.
