INCREASING MOORELANDS IMPACT ON KIDS
Simply stated, we empower kids to transform their lives. It’s our business and we are good at it.
In our world of constant change and demand, being good is not good enough.
To be great, we know that we can’t sit on our laurels – we too must transform ourselves to remain a vibrant and viable organization serving and empowering Toronto children and youth affected by poverty.
In our quest to be great, we’ve renamed our organization to Moorelands Kids and rebranded our image to create a stronger community image and presence. We also significantly improved our website to make it more user friendly, and to meet our longer-term needs. We launched a new community newsletter, myMoorelands, and we are continuing to change.
We have invested in our Board of Directors and we will continue to strengthen how we serve Moorelands Kids with inclusive and balanced decisions. And, for the first time in our known history, we have a fully balanced Board of Directors of female to male director ratio.
We have a great team – our staff at the front line deliver incredibly great programs to over 1500 kids through our camp, family and after-school, city programs.
Last year we deliberately increased the number of kids at camp and after-school programs – this was in part due to our objective of “Serving More Kids” and our staff’s persistence and creativity to get more kids to camp and after school programs. We are blessed for this excellent work.
SERVING KIDS MORE
We will sustain our momentum of change and results – and to truly empower kids to transform their lives – by shifting some of our resources to “Serving Kids More”. That means we will develop and launch additional programs – or extend existing programs – to serve kids beyond the camp and after-school programs. To develop and launch these programs we will embark on community consultation, collaborative partnerships, and funding from more diversified sources of support. Stay tuned for more details.
GIVING OUR THANKS
As we move forward, we must remember and give thanks to our many Alumni and Board directors who have given so much to Moorelands Kids. We remember and will always thank one of our great Board leaders who passed away while serving in 2019 –Andrew Pollock, Co-Chair of the Marketing, Communications, Branding Committee. He was a valiant and dedicated director serving Moorelands Kids for many years. We would also like to give thanks to Paul Buligan who had retired from the Board of Directors this past year. We thank them and their families for giving so much to Moorelands. And, in closing, we give thanks to our current Past President, Bob Webb, and his family. They have generously given to Moorelands Kids in so many ways. No words can express our appreciation.
And lastly, we can’t do this work alone. As our mission is incomplete, your generous support and advocacy – whether its your time or your financial generosity – help us get to great. We will count on your continued support.
Pierre Lebel, John Shelly, Stephen Stobie & Robert Webb, Past President
