Position Type: Volunteer Director
Moorelands Kids is seeking a volunteer Director to join its Board of Directors.
Since 1912, Moorelands Kids, a Toronto based children’s charity has been empowering children and youth from low-income communities across the GTA with skills and tools to enhance their ability to grow and develop with resiliency, confidence and leadership. Our mission is to bridge the opportunity gap for marginalized kids through experiential leadership programs empowering kids to overcome the barriers to success.
The Moorelands Kids’ team and our skill-building programs enable children and youth to reach their full potential, knowing that we believe in them and are invested in their success. Our programs, rooted in positive youth development, provide opportunities for kids to develop leadership skills within a safe place to practice them. Our programs have over 135,000 kids and we look forward to that number growing.
Moorelands Kids’ Programs:
- Moorelands Camp: Overnight summer camp with 600 spaces for kids aged 8-16
- LED: Middle school leadership program with 75 spaces/semester for youth in grades 6 – 8
- BLAST: After-school programs with 84 spaces daily for children aged 6-12
- VITAL: High school leadership program with 25 spaces for youth in grades 9 – 12
- Baby Bundles: Providing new baby supplies and connections to 250 moms & babies annually
- Christmas Sharing: Adopt-a-family program serving our camp families and after-school program participants.

We are looking for a volunteer who lives in Toronto or Haliburton and is willing to contribute their time, experience and ideas to the governance and strategic oversight of Moorelands Kids. We are especially seeking volunteers with knowledge and skills related to education, social work, finance and fundraising. Individuals with diverse backgrounds &/or lived experience are encouraged to apply.
Directors are expected to commit the necessary time to attend board and committee meetings which occur approximately 9 times a year. Directors can expect to commit approximately 4-6 hours per month for a three-year term. The anticipated start date is April 2023.
