Last Christmas, our Baby Bundles partners at Flemingdon Health Centre (FHC) shared with us the impact of our Sponsor a Newborn and Mom Holiday campaign on their clients and how your remarkable gifts at Christmas when you give a Baby Bundle have long-lasting effects.
“The Baby Bundles allow us to support mothers in a full circle way that we couldn’t without your donors’ generous donations”
FHC often support new moms who have recently arrived to Canada and don’t have very much in the way of social support, financial means, or who are very isolated. Taking home a Moorelands Kids’ Baby Bundle gives a vulnerable mom important items they could not otherwise access. But the bundle also connects the family to FHC’s programs that support mothers with free access to healthcare and social service professionals, as well as interaction with peers and community.
Anna, a mother new to Canada and on her third pregnancy in a short period of time gave birth just before last year’s holiday season. Moorelands Kids’ Baby Bundles program allowed FHC to provide mom and newborn with all the necessities as well as some toys for her older children.
The holidays can be an overwhelming time, especially for newcomer moms facing financial challenges. But our baby bundles bring hope and support, showing moms that their community cares. New mothers at FHC are especially grateful for the thoughtful and handmade baby items like hats, blankets, cardigans and baby booties which are cherished and used with pride. The beautiful quilts are treasured gifts that can be used for many different age groups and will be kept forever.
“The bundles created by Moorelands’ Sponsor a New Mom and Newborn initiative bring happiness to families who are unable to afford even the basics for the child and ensure they are connected to the support they need for a healthy start. The families are always so thankful!
