The social and economic unsteadiness of the past few years has reiterated the importance of balance in our operations. Moorelands Kids has navigated the waves of change in 2022 carefully, returning to in-person programming for the first time since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
Returning to in-person programming at Moorelands Camp reconnected many kids and families to our community – it was evident that campers needed a break away from the stress of the city more than ever. Their need and desire to reconnect, explore nature, make new friends, and develop their leadership skills inspired us! Our goal is to serve many more kids in 2023.
Our after-school programs brought some new challenges this year. In 2022, the communities where our programs were well established continued to face incredible barriers as they tried to recover from the pandemic. Moorelands responded by modifying our outreach and registration approach, offering more support for families new to the programs. In order to better serve youth, a key adjustment was the piloting of our high school program, VITAL, as a hybrid model with online and in-person youth programming.
We are so grateful for the steadfast support of our donor community. Your dedication has allowed us to remain resilient in the face of adversity, so that we can continue to rebuild our capacity and Serve More Kids, Serve Kids More in 2023. Thank you for believing in our mission and the potential of kids to succeed!
