GIVE A CHILD-IN-NEED A SUMMER THAT CAN CHANGE THEIR FUTURE…

I made a commitment to join the board of an incredible organization called Moorelands Kids. They exist to bridge the opportunity gap for kids facing financial marginalization in neighbourhoods all around us. One of the ways they do that is with the opportunity to spend a week at Moorelands Camp, forming friendships and memories, surrounded by the beauty of Kawagama Lake.

MNP 50/50 Tickets Available – TBD&-link

Tickets are: 10 for $10, 30 for $20, and 200 for $50
Every ticket is a chance to win the 50/50 pot and each ticket enters you into a chance to win a pair of Blue Jays game tickets for (date TBD)

Ray hasn’t been to camp since 2019. He is trapped in a one-bedroom apartment with his mom and four much younger siblings. His mom doesn’t feel it’s safe to let them play outside in their neighbourhood. We can join together to send Ray, and other kids facing tough life challenges, to Moorelands Camp. Let’s make sure no child has to spend their summer isolated and alone.

As we make our own summer plans, I invite you to bring the joys, friendships, and life lessons of summer camp to Toronto kids facing steep financial barriers.

Moorelands Camp will continue to help the children develop the habits and qualities that build empowerment and confidence, giving them the tools to make great choices for their lives. They will continue to learn about personal leadership and leadership in communities, setting the foundation for success in every aspect of life ahead. AND, they will have a tonne of fun doing so.

It’s been a very long and challenging few months for all of us and the children need connection and community now more than ever. It costs $1650 to send a kid to camp. This is a fun way to come together and make something wonderful happen as TEAM MNP. Any amount you choose to invest in the 50/50 will make a difference.

With Much Appreciation,

Send a Kid to Camp!

Kawagama Lake

From the hot city streets to Moorelands Camp!

Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat, is Moorelands Camp. A gem in the Algonquin Highlands, each summer our summer camp welcomes 700 children and youth from some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Toronto.

Swimming, canoeing, music, kayaking, archery, ropes courses, arts and crafts and overnight tripping… the spirit of the wilderness! And build into all this fun are character and leadership lessons – communication, teamwork, problem solving and goal setting – the development of skills necessary for life success!

Staff care deeply about the campers, supporting them as they practise positive interactions with each other and with adults, and celebrating their achievements. Campers return home bursting with great stories of their personal accomplishments, new leadership skills and wonderful memories.
