PLEASE JOIN ME: GIVE A CHILD-IN-NEED A SUMMER THAT CAN CHANGE THEIR FUTURE…
I made a commitment to join the board of an incredible organization called Moorelands Kids.
Moorelands Kids’ purpose resonates with me on many levels. Most important to me is the fact that it is built on the foundation that every child, regardless of their economic circumstances, has the right to succeed in life. This purpose is brought to life by providing kids from Toronto who face economic barriers with the opportunity to spend a week at Moorelands Camp, forming friendships and memories, surrounded by the beauty of Kawagama Lake, as they have been doing for over 105 years.
As a child, I went to summer camp myself, so I know from personal experience that the life skills and experiences that children get from this opportunity are profound and life-changing. Those summers allowed me to form lifelong friendships, develop an appreciation for the natural world, and create happy memories that will never fade.
Every year at this time, I am reminded just how lucky I was to have those experiences. Building skills and forming friendships in a safe and glorious natural setting is a wonderful gift. I hope you will join with me to bring the joys, friendships, and life lessons of summer camp to Toronto kids facing economic barriers.
Moorelands Camp will continue to help the children develop the habits and qualities that build empowerment and confidence, giving them the tools to make great choices for their lives. Kids will continue to learn about personal leadership and leadership in communities, setting the foundation for success in every aspect of life ahead.
It’s been a very long and challenging few months for all of us and these children need connection and community now more than ever. Please join me in contributing to Moorelands Kids’ Send-a-Kid to Camp Campaign. It costs $1780 to send a kid to camp, but any amount you choose to give will make a difference.

From the hot city streets to Moorelands Camp!
Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat, is Moorelands Camp. A gem in the Algonquin Highlands, each summer our summer camp welcomes 700 children and youth from some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Toronto.
Swimming, canoeing, music, kayaking, archery, ropes courses, arts and crafts and overnight tripping… the spirit of the wilderness! And build into all this fun are character and leadership lessons – communication, teamwork, problem solving and goal setting – the development of skills necessary for life success!
Staff care deeply about the campers, supporting them as they practise positive interactions with each other and with adults, and celebrating their achievements. Campers return home bursting with great stories of their personal accomplishments, new leadership skills and wonderful memories.
