“I feel that at Moorelands – learning the things we do such as responsibility, leadership and trustworthiness – it’s a perfect program to help kids get on the right track, clear their minds & send them in the right direction to be successful.”  Sage, Moorelands camper

Moorelands Camp on Kawagama Lake near Dorset, Ontario, makes summer camp happen for 600 Toronto children and youth who otherwise not have that valuable summer camp experience.

From the hot city streets to Moorelands Camp!

Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat, is Moorelands Camp. A gem in the Algonquin Highlands, each summer our summer camp welcomes 600 children and youth from some of the poorest neighbourhoods in Toronto.

Swimming, canoeing, drama and music, kayaking, ropes courses, arts and crafts, and overnight tripping… the spirit of the wilderness! And built into all this fun are deeper leadership skills – skills necessary for life success – skills like communication, perseverance, listening, problem-solving and teamwork.

Staff care deeply about the campers, supporting them as they practise positive interactions with each other and with adults, and celebrating their achievements. Campers return home bursting with great stories of their personal accomplishments, new leadership skills and wonderful memories.

To sponsor one child costs $1150. Parents pay what they can, but their contributions cover only a fraction of this amount.

This summer, please give this unique leadership opportunity to a child in need by helping us send a kid to camp. You can help us help kids!

Thank You for Caring

Your gift means the world to our kids. And you are giving them so much more than a simple adventure on Kawagama Lake. The skills and character qualities they develop at Moorelands will help them grow and thrive back home in the city.

In the words of a Moorelands camper, Jessica, age 13:

“Now I’ve been to camp, I will be able to show leadership and be someone that people could look up to. I’ve learned so much, like with canoeing, it showed me that we have to work together and that I could use teamwork back home too.”

On behalf of the children and youth we serve, THANK YOU!
