What is it like to work at Moorelands?

Tucked away on 45 acres of sandy beaches and dense forests, accessible only by boat is Moorelands Camp. Each summer we serve over 600 economically disadvantaged children and youth from Toronto. Working at Moorelands is demanding, challenging and rewarding! Our staff members are positive, enthusiastic team players, who put the needs of others before their own. They are ready for the challenge of being a strong influence, a consistent role model, and mentor to the youth that come to Moorelands.

Qualifications and Skills Needed

  • Minimum 18 years of age or older
  • Trained in lifesaving (Bronze Cross) or Standard First Aid
  • Mature, caring, fun, and patient.
  • Ready to be a strong role-model to the youth we serve
  • Genuinely interested in their growth and development
  • Put the needs of others in front of your own

Available Positions at Moorelands Camp

Lead Team

The lead team is comprised of the Program Coordinators and Section Heads, in addition to the directors. They are responsible for overall support and supervision of the staff at Moorelands. Reporting to the directors, they plan, assess, and set the direction of the programs and cabin life at Moorelands. Click here to view more specific job descriptions of each position

Cabin Leaders

Cabin Leaders are the backbone of cabin life at Moorelands. Reporting to the Section Heads, each cabin leader will have a co-cabin leader and be responsible for a cabin of 8 to 10 campers. Click here for more specific job descriptions.

Program Staff

Program staff are responsible for planning and implementing the intentional programming at Moorelands. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, each staff will have one or two speciality activities that they are qualified to lead. Click here for more specific job descriptions.

Health Care Team

Reporting to the directors, the health care team is responsible for the overall health and wellness of both the campers and staff. This team is usually comprised of a Head Nurse and an assistant. Click here for more detailed job descriptions.

Office Administrator and Day Camp Coordinator

The office administrator is responsible for the overall running of the office, including the tuck shop and day camp. Reporting to the directors, duties include day camp registration, responding to parent questions, and running of the staff tuck shop. Click here for a more detailed job description.
